DescriptionThis course is studied online through the Thebarton Moodle. However, in order to build a supportive and effective IT environment, a face-to-face orientation session will be held at the start of the course. This course requires students to demonstrate their ability to set up hardware and install and customise software as well as troubleshoot problems. A practical test session will be held at Thebarton Senior College so that this can take place under supervision and with the required equipment available. Students may be able to negotiate alternative arrangements if this session time does not suit them. Other interactivity between students will be on the Moodle or at other face-to-face sessions as required. Online video links such as Facetime, Skype or similar may be used to hold one-to-one sessions with the online teacher.
PathwaysFurther Education Pathway - IT pathways such as Certificate III or Certificate IV. Career Pathway -Desktop support, junior operations support, service desk, IT Specialist employment.
Entry RequirementsAbility to work online. 15 years plus. Year 10 and above.
Other RequirementsStudents need to have the following equipment (or access to it): • Computer with internet access • Email address • Scanner • Camera – preferably a DSLR, but a compact or smartphone camera may be sufficient • Microphone – inbuilt mic on a computer/smartphone may not be of sufficient quality In addition, the following software is required: • Microsoft Office including Word, Excel (preferably version 2010 or above, however free trial downloads are available) • Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1 or later – again, free trial downloads and/or online versions are available • Audacity or similar sound editing software – available free for download Windows operating system is assumed. Completion of an LNN test
