Course Description | This course is designed for students who are passionate about animals and interested in Animal Care and livestock Industry. Students will learn about animal nutrition, anatomy, handling techniques, animal first aid and how to administer medication. Course work is to be completed between workshops. Phone and email support provided. Practical workshops involving domestic pets, wildlife and livestock with field trips to Pastoral Properties and Monarto Zoo. |
Pathways | Further Education Pathway - This Program will provide very useful underpinning knowledge for a range of fields and study in animal care including; Animal Science, Veterinary bioscience, Veterinary nursing, Pet styling and Livestock agent.
Career Pathway - By successful completion of units of competency within this Qualification, students will earn SACE points toward ATAR for furthering Animal Care related career options such as Veterinarians, Vet Nursing, Parks and Wildlife/Zoos, Wildlife Rescue, Pet Industry, Animal Welfare - RSPCA, Working Dog Training, Livestock Agent, Stockfeed Merchant. |

Other Requirements | Attend an information session and attend an interview. Students must arrange their own animal care workplace location. Rubber soled work boots required. TGSS funding subject to WorkReady eligibility (refer to www.skills.sa.gov.au to check eligibility). |

Part of the course fees may be funded under the Training Guarantee for SACE students scheme with the remainder payable by the student. |
Cost Notes | In addition to the course cost, an administration fee will apply as follows:
Non-ISCA DfE school - $50 per enrolment
Non-DfE school - $250 per enrolment
