DescriptionThis course is an Agricultural training course with the emphasis on intensive and extensive livestock skills. In addition, units in chemical use, fencing, monitoring livestock, farm management, animal husbandry management and advances in technology are covered. Students participate in off-site training and complete 20 days of on the job training on the Urrbrae farm or other farming properties for the assessment.
PathwaysFurther Education Pathway - Can lead to Certificate III and or tertiary courses including Diploma in Agriculture course, Bachelor of Agriculture Science or equivalent or facilitate entry into an apprenticeship. Career Pathway - Traineeship or work in Agriculture or Horticulture as assistant animal attendant/stockperson, assistant Farm or Station hand, assistant Farm or Station hand, assistant Farm or Station labourer.
PrerequisitesStudents should have a genuine interest in developing skills and working in the agriculture industry or have relevant farming experience.
Special RequirementsSafety footwear, overalls or work clothes and hat must be worn for each session.
