Apprenticeship Brokers

Apprenticeship Brokers are employed by the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) as part of the Trade Schools for the Future strategy.

They provide a service within a cluster of public secondary schools. Their role is to facilitate School-Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships between students, parents/caregivers, employers, schools and Registered Training Organisations (RTO).

This involves negotiation of work day(s) or hours of employment so students can combine their employment with school and RTO training commitments while working towards SACE completion. To support this process Apprenticeship Brokers assist to:

  • Establish an individual and flexible school timetable
  • Identify how RTO training will be delivered
  • Ensure the hours of employment are fair & equitable for the student and employer

The Inner South Curriculum Alliance has two Apprenticeship Brokers, Sam Ricci and Russell Atwell. Sam and Russell work closely with students, school staff and parents/caregivers to connect students with employers to establish School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
